About Mervyn Westfield

Merv is a Fast Opening bowler and middle order batsmen, able to cause destruction with bat and ball! Able to swing the ball both ways and clear the boundaries at ease Merv is a real entertainer on the cricket pitch!

Merv made his first Class debut for Essex in 2005 playing to date 7 matches with a high score and 32 and best figures of 4-72. In January 2012 Merv's Cricketing career came to an abrubt holt as he was convicted of spot fixing!

Since this Merv has made massive strides into giving something back to the sport he loves he has co operated in helping anti corruption in Cricket, working closely with the PCA to ensure other young players do not make the same mistakes he made and through coaching he is helping young up and coming cricketers to learn their trade.  

What the future holds for Merv is unclear but he is now back on a cricket pitch again for Essex Side Frinton on Sea, Merv is hopeful of some strong performances to help his new club and is throughly enjoying being back on the pitch!
