ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 Preview

The Cricket World Cup in Australia is now nearly upon us, it is set to be a cracker of a tournament so we thought we would give you a run down on who we see as the major contenders for the tournament.

Australia

The Host nation and Bookmakers favourite, Australia are set for a big world cup campaign in their backyard. A strong batting unit consisting of Warner, finch, Watson, Clarke, Smith, Maxwell, Faulkner, Haddin and an equally as impressive bowling unit of Cummins, Johnson and Starc to match. This Australian team have the firepower to score big and blow opposition batting line ups away. The lack of a spinner is the only concern but they will go very close for sure.

Key Man- David Warner

South Africa

Like Australia South Africa have batting line up to die for and probably two of the Best players in the world right now in Amla and AB De Villiers if these two perform then South Africa will win this World Cup. With Steyn, Morkel, Phillander and Tahir in the bowling ranks they also have the ability to dominate with the balls. Our Idea of the 2015 World Cup Winner.

Key Man- AB De Villiers

New Zealand A little bit underestimated but its hard to see New Zealand not making the top 4 at the very least. A very solid batting line up consisting of McCullum, Williamson and Taylor and a great quick bowling line up of Boult, Milne and Henry. Sure to go deep into the tournament.

Key Man – Kane Williamson

India

Again another team who could go close, they have the batting line up to beat anyone on their day, but they will need it to make up for their weak bowling line up. Our Gut feeling is that they will come unstuck when it matters.

Key Man- Virat Kohli

Sri Lanka

A good team in their own back yard, however we think they will struggle in Australia. Very reliant on Sangakarra, Jayawardene and Dilshan to score their runs and with their spin attack going to receive limited assistance they may well struggle.

Key man- Lasith Malinga

England

England have the ability to win any game of cricket on their day, the problem is these days are few and far between. Batting wise Bell, Ali, Taylor, Root, Morgan, Bopara and Buttler have the firepower to lead England to big scores. Bowling wise an attack of Anderson, Broad, Woakes and Finn looks great when the ball is moving but on flat tracks they tend to go the distance, They have the potential to go a long way but whether they quite sting it all together remains to be seen.

Key Man- Morgan
